Did you know that you can customize your LinkedIn URL so you can point people directly to your profile?

In this LinkedIn training video, I show you how to claim your own personal LinkedIn URL that you can add to your resume, cover letter or business card.

Whether you use LinkedIn for job searching or building your business, it can be a challenge for others to find you – especially if you have a common name. By default, LinkedIn assigns your profile with a random string of letters and numbers at the end of your URL, it typically looks something like this:

“linkedin.com/in/melanie-denny-g65dsf6z”

You can easily clean this up by claiming a unique URL derived from your first and last name. So, it looks like this:

“linkedin.com/in/melanieldenny”
